Thrips (Thysanoptera) in Australia

The insect order Thysanoptera comprises two suborders, Terebrantia and Tubulifera.

Worldwide, eight families are recognised in the Terebrantia, but only one family in the Tubulifera. (see details see ThripsID; also Thysanoptera (Thrips) of the World – a checklist).

In Australia, only five of the nine families have been found.
