Diagnosis
Small to medium-sized, elongate, waspmimicking beetles with antennae extending to middle of elytra. Frontoclypeus transverse. Eyes very large, finely facetted and shallowly emarginate. Antennal tubercles close apically, removed from mandibular articulation. Antennal foramen depressed. Antennal scape slender, distinctly shorter than pronotum; pedicel subquadrate; antennomere 3 slightly longer than scape. Pronotum as long as wide, lateral margins rounded, smooth; pronotal disc punctate without tubercles. Prosternal process narrow, expanded apically. Procoxal cavities circular without angular gap laterally. Procoxae weakly projecting below level of prosternum. Mesoventrite flat anteriorly; mesoventral intercoxal process broad, weakly notched apically. Mesocoxal cavities broadly open to mesepimeron; mesotrochantin exposed. Elytra without distinct punctures; costae or ridges absent, apices bispinose. Hind femur usually longer than abdomen; tibiae not flattened.
Distribution and Biology
This is a very large, widespread genus, in Australia known mostly from Queensland but extending south to Lismore, Wingham and Mt Keira in New South Wales.
Adults can be found moving actively around on timber during the day or can be collected in flight intercept traps or by beating of vegetation.
